Wood Mackenzie Internship and Graduate Programmes 2016

Internship and Graduate Programmes

Internship Opportunities

The Wood Mackenzie Internship Programme is aimed at recent graduates from a degree course in a numerate or analytical discipline. Based in one of our key global locations, our programme will provide invaluable experience for anyone considering a career within research and consulting who wants to find out more about the energy and metals industry. We also offer internships within our Sales and Marketing organisation.

The programmes for Europe, Middle East, African, Russian and Caspian (EMEARC), Americas and Asia Pacific (APAC) run through the summer months and all year round in Beijing. We ask that students commit to an internship of at least 8 weeks with a maximum of 14 weeks. Most interns come to us for 10-12 weeks between June and September. Our Australian internship programme runs between November and February.

  • You will be encouraged to share your ideas and previous experiences with the team.
  • You will learn new skills which will be of value to you in your future career and current academic studies.
  • You will be provided with excellent support and coaching to get the best out of your internship.
  • You will participate in learning and development activities in addition to your normal internship duties.

Graduate Opportunities

The Wood Mackenzie Graduate Programme is aimed at recent graduates from a degree course in a numerate or analytical discipline.

We are currently running a pilot graduate programme in EMEARC with a small number of new research analysts. This pilot programme started mid October 2014 and is a two year functional programme running until October 2016.

2015 we will be offering opportunities to graduates across research and consulting who have demonstrated high levels of skill and competence in their internship placement or through graduates successfully attending our robust assessment.

What will I do?

Working in a team with experienced experts you will spend six months in each functional rotational placement with clearly defined business objectives in each of the functional business areas. You will also have specific development objectives which will guide you in developing the skills and knowledge for your career in that functional area. These objectives will be delivered through on the job training, experience and through attending a range of training interactions throughout the two year programme. As part of the programme you will also be supported by a trained Wood Mackenzie business mentor who will provide you with additional guidance to help steer your career journey.

What will I gain?

  • You will gain a comprehensive baseline understanding of the energy and metals industry
  • You will develop a broad foundation analytical skill set which will help you integrate quickly and make meaningful contributions to the business at the earliest stages of your career
  • You will experience a range of tasks and methodologies to gain a wider perspective of the challenges of different roles within that functional area
  • You will be given excellent support and coaching throughout the programme from your line manager, graduate performance manager and your mentor.
  • At the end of the programme you will participate in a development centre. After successful participation in the development centre, a development plan will be formulated to guide you in the next stage of your career. This may result in the identification of a functional move, a cross divisional or regional placement or progress onto our future leaders programme.
